10.1.1 Supplier Diversity Short-, Mid-, and
Long-Term Procurement Goals
With a fully staffed team dedicated to supplier outreach,
development and engagement, SDG&E intends to
continue meeting or exceeding the supplier diversity
goals established by General Order 156.
The following is a list of some of our ongoing initiatives designed to diversify
and strengthen our supply chain:
• Partner with the Supplier Clearinghouse, community organizations,
industry groups and business associations to expand outreach.
• Invest in supplier development to enable small businesses to expand
their capabilities and take on larger scopes of work.
• Encourage more prime contractors to mentor their subcontractors to
grow their capabilities and expand their knowledge of the utility industry.
• Regularly review and analyze spend data to identify trends and areas of
opportunity for improvement.
• Identify and adopt best practices for supplier engagement.
• Conduct regular touch points with key suppliers to learn how and
whether they are engaging with local, small and/or diverse suppliers,
and offer support to identify qualified subcontractors as needed.
